Sensual Drawing Complete – “Intention”

Intention

I am so excited to have completed this drawing.  I love figure and the human body and have been wanting to do a more “sensual” drawing for some time now.  I’m hoping that it excites the senses and draws the viewer in for a second look.  I titled it “Intention” for, hopefully, obvious reasons.  If I offend, I apologize – Well, not really.  I warned you with the blog title.

I love taking the time to draw for myself.  A few times a year, I create new pieces to be used in shows that I am interested in being a part of.  The last few have been portraits, so this is a nice break.  Something new, something naked.

As I have stated before, I am always happy to quote for freelance artwork as well as portrait. If you have something in mind, let me know.  I’d love to talk with you.

  1. At first I saw only a hand
    dark, sinewy powerful
    a man’s hand.
    The thumb down suggested
    not a gentle intention
    spoken by a thumb alongside the other fingers;
a hand laid in tenderness on the sensitive thigh
    of a willing lover.
That thumb down spoke of gripping and taking when
    I saw only the hand.
Suddenly I saw the naked body
    the dark chiseled form
    of the muscled man
against the soft curves of a relaxed leg
    and the edges melted away
to reveal a man standing between the willing open
legs of a woman receiving the power of a man
a woman impassioned enough by the man’s demands
    to flow with his thrust
a thrust aided by his powerful hands
    levering his hips forcefully
    for her greater satisfaction—
and the stillness of the figures in the drawing
    exploded in my imagination

      1. I didn’t mean to flatter you, Heidi but rather to reflect back at you the way that your art engaged my mind and how dynamic the experience was with my awareness expanding as I sat and gazed at really good art. It is like good poetry which requires that you reread numerous times in order to fully understand the cognative, emotional and rhythmic qualities of a poem. So you can stop being flattered and just accept the plain and simple fact that you are a very accomplished artist with a great deal of depth in the work you produce for yourself, rather than what a customer orders.

        1. I was and am still “flattered” that you not only took the time to take a good look at the drawing but to send me such a detailed comment about what it meant to you. I really appreciate it.

  2. Your attention to detail is so exquisite that I can feel the weight of the hand on my leg. Absolutely stunning, Heidi.
